Summit gong Bandung bound

A two-meter-diameter, 270-kilogram gong has left for Bandung to
become the symbol of the Asian-African Summit to be held later
this week.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to sound the
gong on Sunday, which will be displayed during the entire event.
The gong features the embossed names and flags of the 106
attending nations.

The gong, which also displays the summit logo and theme, took
local craftsman Djuyato Suntani three months to make and cost Rp
1.5 billion (US$157,894).

"It's a donation from the World Peace Committee to Indonesia,"
said Djuyato. -- JP
