Summers to Jakarta Sunday

TOKYO (Reuters): Deputy U.S. Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers will travel to Jakarta on Sunday to meet high-ranking Indonesian officials, a U.S. official said yesterday .

The official said Summers would travel from Tokyo, where he held a flurry of meetings with Japanese officials on Friday.

Summers was due to take part in a meeting of deputy finance ministers from the Group of Seven industrial countries and other nations affected by the Asian crisis on Saturday.

He was likely to leave Jakarta late on Monday to return to Washington, the official said.
