Summarecon Fulfills Sustainability Commitment to Improve Public Health on 50th Anniversary

PT Summarecon Agung Tbk (Summarecon) has once again organised a Free Cataract Surgery Social Service programme as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

Executive Director of Summarecon Agung, Hindarko Hasan, stated that the programme was held to continue the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the quality of public health. “This activity is a tangible manifestation of Summarecon’s commitment to sharing benefits with the wider community. We believe that healthy vision is key to living life optimally,” Hindarko said in a statement on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.

Following successful implementations in Tangerang and Bogor, this social programme has entered its third phase in Bandung City, marking the final instalment of the social service series. He explained that the programme is a collaborative effort between Summarecon Bandung, the Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation, the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the West Java Provincial Government, the Bandung City Health Office, and Murni Teguh Naripan Bandung Hospital.

The surgeries took place on 30 May 202<0xA0>6 at Murni Teguh Naripan Bandung Hospital, supported by ophthalmologists and experienced medical personnel. Hendarko added that, in addition to the surgical procedures, the programme includes post-operative care such as the provision of medication and follow-up observations on the day after surgery to ensure an optimal recovery process. “This is to ensure that all patients receive comprehensive healthcare until their vision is maximally restored,” said Hendarko.

Through this programme, Summarecon hopes that patients can regain clear vision and achieve a better quality of life. Hendarko also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all parties that supported the event, as well as to all partners who collaborated to provide broader healthcare access to the community.

Public enthusiasm for the programme was evident, with 244 applicants from Bandung City and Regency, as well as other regions including Bekasi, Subang, Garut, Tasikmalaya, and Majalengka. Based on health screenings conducted on 23 May 2026 at Plaza Summarecon Bandung, 104 patients were deemed eligible for surgery, consisting of 102 cataract patients and 2 pterygium patients (a condition where conjunctival tissue grows onto the cornea).
