Summarecon donates more public facilities
JAKARTA (JP): PT Summarecon Agung, a large-scale real estate developer, handed over yesterday, for the sixth time, more social and public facilities, built in its housing complex in Kelapa Gading, to the North Jakarta mayoralty.
The facilities were handed over in a ceremony by Suyatno Wirawan, director of PT Summarecon, to Radji Pramono, North Jakarta Deputy Mayor.
Yesterday's hand over, which consisted of one fire station, two plots of land ready for the establishment of new buildings and seven parks, was the sixth conducted by the company.
The hand over shows the company's determination to fully abide by the existing regulations, Suyatno said.
Based on the regulations, each developer is obliged to build social and public facilities, such as parks, schools, and sports arenas on their project sites, in compensation for the issuance of their building permits.
"We have always fulfilled our commitment to build public facilities in the areas we develop. But we should realize the commitment gradually according to the land use licenses we hold," Suyatno said.
PT Summarecon Agung is a publicly listed company on the Jakarta Stock Exchange. It holds nine land appropriation permits (SIPPT), for areas in North Jakarta, which allow it to clear 307.6 hectares of land.
Previously, PT Summarecon Agung was under scrutiny due to its alleged failure to comply with bylaws on building the facilities, worth about Rp 300.6 billion (US$136.63 million), in the Kelapa Gading Permai real estate.
So far, facilities given to the mayoralty by the company, including yesterday's hand over, consist of nine tennis courts, 22 parks, four school buildings, one large mosque, one public health center, one fire station and two plots of developed land ready for construction.
Suyatno said that his company is very much aware of its obligation to build the social and public facilities, but their hand over to the mayoralty has had to be done in stages due to the large-scale of the project built by the company.
He said that other facilities to be handed over in the next stage include road networks in the Kelapa Gading Permai housing complex.
The construction of part of the networks has already been completed, he added. (hhr)
