Sumitomo wins RI order
TOKYO (AFP): Japan's general trading house Sumitomo Corp. said
yesterday it has received a US$220 million order from the
Indonesian state-owned PLN to supply steam turbine generators.
Sumitomo said it would complete delivery of combined cycle
power generators for PLN's Tambok Lorok thermal power plant in
Central Java by August 1997, purchasing from Japanese, U.S. and
Austrian makers.
The company said power generation capacity of the plant would
increase to 500,000 kilowatts an hour with the installment of the
new generators, which will have combined capacity to generate
200,000 kilowatts an hour.
Sumitomo said the Export-Import banks of Japan, the United
States and Austria were expected to extend concessional loans to
PLN to finance part of the contract.
It said Japan's ministry of international trade and industry
will underwrite a trade insurance on the contract for PLN.
