The Kirab Mahkota Binokasih will be one of the main events in the Milangkala Tatar Sunda series, to be held on 8-9 May 2026 in Sumedang Regency. The event will commence in Sumedang, followed by Ciamis, Bogor, and Bandung. Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir expressed appreciation to the West Java Provincial Government for entrusting the regency with organising the procession. According to him, the event coincides with Sunda Tatar Day as well as Sumedang’s anniversary, making it a crucial moment for strengthening regional cultural identity. “The Milangkala Tatar Sunda will begin in Sumedang Regency on 8-9 May. This is an event that synergises the provincial government and Sumedang Regency,” said Regent Dony in an official statement on Sunday (26/4). He explained that the Kirab Mahkota Binokasih holds profound historical value. Through this event, the public is expected to understand that West Java was once home to the Pajajaran Kingdom and the Sumedang Larang Kingdom in Sumedang. “This serves as a value that West Java had the Pajajaran Kingdom and Sumedang had the Sumedang Larang Kingdom,” he stated. Furthermore, Regent Dony noted that the presence of the Mahkota Binokasih, now kept in the Keraton Sumedang Larang, is a blessing and a symbol of the kingdom’s greatness. The name Binokasih itself carries the meaning of “Source of Compassion,” which is a noble value in community life.
