Sumedang Regent Orders PDAM to Prepare Tanker Trucks to Address Clean Water Crisis

SUMEDANG is preparing to face drought during the dry season. Regent Dony Ahmad Munir has asked the regional water company, PDAM Tirta Medal, to begin mitigation efforts. “PDAM must prepare water to anticipate the drought, especially the need for clean water. They must be ready now,” he stated. He asked PDAM to make predictions and plans regarding the drought expected to occur in July, August and September. “Map out which areas are vulnerable and lack clean water,” he explained. He stressed that PDAM must have tanker trucks ready to be dispatched immediately to clean water crisis points. Before residents cry out, PDAM tanker trucks should already be at locations experiencing water shortages. Meanwhile, the Sumedang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has also prepared tanker trucks with clean water to assist residents in need. “During this dry season, besides being vigilant against forest and land fires, BPBD is also preparing clean water assistance for residents,” said BPBD Sumedang Chief Executive Bambang Rianto. Several areas vulnerable to clean water crises in Sumedang include Pakualam Village in Darmaraja District, and the districts of Surian, Tomo, and Ujungjaya. BPBD has asked communities lacking clean water to request assistance from the agency. “To date, no area has yet submitted a request for clean water assistance. BPBD remains ready and on standby,” Bambang emphasised.
