Sumedang Regency, West Java, aims to complete the construction of the Sasak Bereum Bridge in Ujungjaya District by the end of December 2026 to enhance inter-regional connectivity.

Speaking in Sumedang on Friday, the Regent of Sumedang, Dony Ahmad Munir, stated that the bridge is part of a main route connecting Conggeang District with Ujungjaya District, making its existence vital for public mobility.

“I am currently standing on a Bailey bridge (an emergency bridge). While the old bridge is being renovated, this Bailey bridge is functioning temporarily as a link for the main road to Ujungjaya,” he said.

He noted that the old bridge will be completely demolished and replaced with a more robust new construction to support the smooth flow of vehicles and community activities.

Dony ensured that the construction of the new bridge is targeted for completion by the end of December 2026, in accordance with the ongoing stages of work.

“God willing, construction will be finished by the end of December. I ask for the prayers of all Sumedang residents so that the construction of the Sasak Bereum Bridge can be completed promptly, proceed smoothly, and result in high-quality infrastructure,” he added.

According to technical data from the Sumedang Regency Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUTR), the new bridge is designed to be 55 metres long and seven metres wide.

The construction of the bridge is expected to increase public accessibility while supporting economic activities connecting the Conggeang and Ujungjaya areas.

During the inspection, Dony was accompanied by the Head of the Sumedang Regency PUTR Department, Andri Indra Widianto, to directly observe the progress of the Sasak Bereum Bridge construction.

The Sumedang Regency Government has ensured that the infrastructure development is being closely monitored to ensure completion meets the target and can be utilised by the community as soon as possible.
