Sumedang (ANTARA) - The Sumedang Regency Government in West Java has established a collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Education and the Malaysia Association of Lesson Study (MYALS) to enhance education quality through the lesson study approach. Sumedang Regent Dony Ahmad Munir stated in a release received in Sumedang on Friday that the collaboration serves as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences between Indonesia and Malaysia to improve teaching quality. “This meeting acts as a bridge of brotherhood, knowledge and experience exchange, and strengthening of collaboration in education through lesson study,” he said. He explained that educators can share best practices in the learning process, thereby enabling sustainable improvements in education quality via the lesson study approach. He also stressed that the education sector must continue to innovate and strengthen cross-country collaborations amid rapid developments in the era. “Education cannot proceed in a mediocre manner. It must keep learning, innovating, and strengthening collaborations to meet the challenges of the times,” he remarked. On that occasion, MYALS representative Prof. Zanaton stated that his visit aims to directly observe education policies and learning practices in Sumedang. He appreciated the education approach that not only focuses on content but also on values in the learning process. “Through this lesson study collaboration, we see great potential to enhance the quality of educators. This forum also provides global experience in introducing lesson study practices to educators and prospective educators in Sumedang,” he said. He added that the cooperation also serves as a means to study the synergy between local government and the Education Office in formulating policies to improve educator quality.
