Sumedang Regency aims to complete Cibugel-Darmaraja road this year

The Sumedang Regency Government, West Java, aims to complete the construction of the Cibugel-Darmaraja road, spanning approximately 1.2 kilometres, this year to improve community mobility and regional connectivity.

Speaking in Sumedang on Tuesday, the Regent of Sumedang, Dony Ahmad Munir, stated that the construction of this section is nearing completion and is one of the projects long-awaited by the community to support daily activities.

“This is a road that the community has been waiting for. It is now almost finished and is expected to be completed this year. Hopefully, the road will be strong and durable,” he said.

Dony noted that the improved road conditions will make it easier for people to work, worship, study, access healthcare services, and conduct economic activities more smoothly.

With better access, Dony added, the movement of both people and goods is expected to become easier, faster, and more efficient, while simultaneously strengthening connectivity between regions within the Sumedang Regency.

By 2026, the Sumedang Regency Government targets a district road stability rate of 89.62 per cent, an increase from the 2025 realisation of 87.28 per cent and the 2024 rate of 87.54 per cent.

“In addition to this road, we are also repairing the Cipicung to Cibugel Garut section this year,” Dony remarked, regarding efforts to expand the benefits of improved connectivity for communities in border areas.

The Sumedang Regency Government is also preparing the continued development of the Cibugel-Darmaraja road up to the Cibugel area, as well as the gradual repair of the Cipicung-Cibugel section which borders the Garut Regency.

“We hope the community will help maintain the constructed roads so that their quality remains preserved and the benefits of the development can be felt for a longer period,” Dony said.
