Sumedang (ANTARA) — The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sumedang Police, West Java, has uncovered new facts regarding the use of an airsoft gun in a suspected violent robbery (known locally as “curas”) that killed a man in the Girimukti area of Sumedang Regency on Sunday morning.

Head of the Sumedang Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Commissioner Tanwin Nopriansah, said in Sumedang on Sunday that the victim was found dead under suspicious circumstances and was believed to have been the victim of a violent robbery while attempting to conduct a mobile phone sale.

“The suspect is believed to have used an airsoft gun to carry out the violent robbery in Girimukti,” he said.

He explained that officers discovered several stab wounds on the victim’s body, including a stab wound to the left side of the chest, based on the crime scene examination.

In addition, police also found evidence of an airsoft gun shot to the victim’s head, with the projectile still embedded at the time of the initial examination at the scene.

“On the head, there were marks from an airsoft gun shot and the projectile was still lodged in place. The likely cause of death was blood loss,” he said.

So far, investigators have questioned approximately 15 witnesses, including the victim’s wife, family members, and several witnesses who were near the crime scene, to establish the chronology of events.

According to the victim’s wife, on that morning after the pre-dawn meal (sahur), the victim had said he was leaving to carry out a cash-on-delivery (COD) mobile phone sale.

To expedite the resolution of the case, the Sumedang Police Criminal Investigation Unit has coordinated with the General Crime Directorate of the West Java Provincial Police, which is now supporting the investigation in the Sumedang area.
