Sumedang Deputy Regent Fajar Aldila has denied allegations of sexual harassment against his personal secretary, identified only by the initial R. He said he is currently tracing the parties responsible for spreading the gossip and slander, and is considering taking legal action.

“Facing this issue, I am not bothered, friends. Gossip that has no basis in sources. Rather than being busy clarifying this and that, it is better to just work, focus on work, work, work,” he told reporters recently.

He said he will investigate whether the gossip and slander directed at him has political motives or something else. The Sumedang Deputy Regent reminded the public and the media not to be swayed by narratives or opinion manipulation without clear sources.

“I want to investigate this accusation, what is its purpose and aim, whether it is political or something else. That is what is being looked into. I am only reminding the public not to be easily taken in by unclear narratives or opinion manipulation, especially when the source is unclear,” he said.

He urged the public to be more discerning in filtering information. The Sumedang Deputy Regent also said he will assess the situation to determine whether to take legal action against those spreading the slander and gossip.

“In principle, I do not want to be bothered. If it is proven that there has been defamation here, the step that will be taken is legal action, which we will pursue,” he said.

He reiterated that there was never any incident of alleged harassment against his personal secretary. He even invited the media to ask the person concerned directly.

“I said there was no such incident, it is gossip. Let me find out first and investigate. It can be communicated to that person,” he said.

Previously, reports circulated on social media that R was allegedly a victim of abuse and confinement by the Sumedang Deputy Regent. The alleged abuse reportedly involved multiple parties. Information even suggested that the victim had reported the matter to the West Java Regional Police.
