Sumedang Deputy Regent: Construction of Sekolah Rakyat on Track
Sumedang (ANTARA) – The Deputy Regent of Sumedang, West Java, M. Fajar Aldila, said that the construction of Sekolah Rakyat in Ujungjaya District is proceeding as planned and can be realised this year. “The construction of Sekolah Rakyat in Ujungjaya is on track. Issues have been reported, such as protected paddy fields requiring land-use conversion that must be resolved promptly,” Fajar said in a statement received in Sumedang on Friday. He said the regional government continues to coordinate with the central government regarding several obstacles faced, including the land-use conversion issue which falls under the ministry’s authority. He added that besides land issues, the project also contends with high rainfall and some difficulties in procuring materials. “Other obstacles are heavy rainfall and some difficulties related to materials,” he said. Nevertheless, the regional government has taken various steps to support smooth construction, including by improving road access to the Sekolah Rakyat site in Ujungjaya. “The road access to Sekolah Rakyat has been improved so that access to the site can be passed through smoothly,” Fajar said. He added that the progress of the Sekolah Rakyat in Ujungjaya currently stands at around seven percent and is expected to continue to increase in the coming period. “This year the Sekolah Rakyat in Ujungjaya will soon be realised. Its development has reached seven percent. Hopefully the provision of materials will be smoother,” he said. He also said he had held a coordination meeting attended by regencies and cities from across Indonesia as part of the effort to accelerate the national strategic programme in the field of education.
