Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coal trading sector company PT Sumber Global Energy Tbk (SGER) plans to repay its Sustainable Bond I Phase II Year 2025, valued at Rp270 billion, which is due on 25 October 2026.

“SGER will repay the bond using the company’s internal cash,” said SGER Corporate Secretary Michael Harold in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Michael explained that the bond repayment is part of the company’s strategy to maintain a healthy capital structure while ensuring all financial obligations are met on time. He expressed hope that this move would strengthen investor confidence and provide greater room for the company to continue various business expansion agendas throughout the remainder of 2026.

In addition to the bond repayment, the company is preparing an expansion plan to conduct a run test for its Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) plant starting 1 October 2026. Through its subsidiary, PT Hidrogen Peroxida Indonesia (HPI), the company has constructed a hydrogen peroxide plant in the Merak area, Banten Province, with a production capacity of 20,000 metric tons per year (100 percent concentration) or 40,000 metric tons per year (50 percent concentration).

This capacity makes PT Hidrogen Peroxida Indonesia’s facility the second largest H2O2 plant in Indonesia. Through the presence of this plant, Michael hopes the company can diversify its business beyond the coal trading segment. “With good industry prospects, the operation of this plant can certainly become a new source of revenue for SGER in the future,” said Michael.

Furthermore, a company subsidiary is preparing for expansion in the metal mining processing sector; PT Sumber Mineral Global Abadi Tbk (SMGA) is currently exploring the potential development of a nickel smelter in South Sulawesi. Michael stated that the construction of the smelter is a continuation of the Strategic Partnership Agreement with PT Hengsheng New Energy Material Indonesia (Hengsheng).

“This initiative is part of our efforts to strengthen nickel downstreaming while increasing the added value of mineral commodities domestically,” said Michael.

As of the second semester of 2026, SGER recorded revenue of Rp4.32 trillion, representing a 6.73 per cent year-on-year (yoy) growth compared to Rp4.05 trillion in the same period the previous year. The company’s revenue was dominated by the coal segment at Rp3.16 trillion, followed by sand and limestone at Rp405.16 billion, petroleum coke at Rp379 billion, nickel at Rp284.29 billion, and palm oil products at Rp1.50 billion.

During this period, the company recorded a net profit of Rp137.95 billion, or an 8.83 per cent (yoy) growth. “With this series of expansion and corporate actions, we hope SGER can continue to record good performance moving forward,” said Michael.
