Sumbawa Police Investigate Case of Child Killed by Mother Despite Absence of Formal Report
A case involving a 49-year-old mother named Sa’adiah who burned her 25-year-old son, identified as MI, to death in Sepakat Village, Plampang District, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, will certainly be processed through legal channels by police, confirmed Ipda Mulyawansyah, Head of Public Relations for Sumbawa Police Department.
To date, no formal report has been filed regarding the case.
“Of course, it will be processed through legal channels,” Mulyawansyah stated when contacted on Sunday, 28 February 2026.
In investigating the case of the mother burning her son to death, Mulyawansyah disclosed that the police will file a Model A report. According to him, this Model A report serves as the basis for police to proceed with further legal processing of the case.
“Model B police reports are cases reported by members of the community,” he explained.
Mulyawansyah added that the police took the initiative to file a Model A report because to date, no member of the victim’s family has been willing to file an official complaint with police regarding the case.
“In essence, we will follow up on this for legal processing even though to date there has been no official report from the victim’s family,” he said.
Mulyawansyah emphasised that the suspect, Sa’adiah, could face charges under murder or aggravated assault provisions resulting in death, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment.
