Sumatran tiger caught in a trap

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: A wild Sumatran tiger caught in a trap in a protected forest area in West Lampung should be returned to its habitat and not sent to the Indonesian Safari Park, local police said.

"After its injuries have healed, I think it would be better to let the tiger immediately return to the place where she belongs," West Lampung police chief Lt. Col. Andayono told reporters here Saturday.

The tiger was caught in a trap made of steel wires on Thursday in a protected forest west of Fajar Bulan Village in Sumberjaya subdistrict, about 200 kilometers northwest of Bandar Lampung. (mds)
