Sumatra Recovery Task Force Compiles Priorities for Master Recovery Plan
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra is currently refining the compilation of priority scales within the master plan projecting recovery from the Sumatra disaster over three years or until December 2028. The preparation of these priorities aligns with the master plan or renduk for post-disaster recovery in Sumatra, compiled by the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas), which is now entering the finalisation stage. This strategic document will serve as the primary reference for accelerating recovery in affected areas, with a focus on addressing priorities that directly impact the community. Satgas PRR Chairman Muhammad Tito Karnavian in Jakarta on Wednesday stated that the current main focus is to identify the most urgent needs from various affected sectors to be handled earlier. “Bappenas has prepared the renduk for three years. However, under the direction of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture as the steering committee chair, we will review the renduk to determine which important priorities must be addressed in 2026,” Tito said in his statement. Tito explained that although several sectors have resumed functioning, most are still at a functional stage and require permanent completion. Therefore, the priority compilation is focused on basic community needs that directly affect the recovery of daily life. “Permanent housing is the most important priority because we hope the community does not stay in temporary housing for too long. Then, main roads and bridges that must be made permanent, as well as mud cleanup at several points, are also primary concerns,” he said. The government estimates the recovery process will last up to three years ahead, so the handling stages must be arranged in a measured manner. Satgas PRR Steering Committee Chairman Pratikno stated that the master plan compiled by Bappenas will become a legal product in the form of a presidential regulation that serves as a reference for budget use by involved ministries/institutions in post-disaster recovery in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. “For 2026, we agreed earlier on what to prioritise, which will be reviewed by the task force chair together with Bappenas and related ministries/institutions. Then, it will be allocated as soon as possible because, once again, speed is very important in disaster handling,” he said. Deputy for Regional Development at the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas Medrilzam stated that the master plan preparation has undergone intensive synchronisation between regional proposals and the work plans of ministries/institutions. “In total, the indicative financing needs reach around Rp120 trillion, with Rp100.2 trillion to be implemented by ministries/institutions over three years,” Medrilzam said. For the first year, namely 2026, Bappenas will coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to target the acceleration of priority programme implementation with budget needs approaching Rp40 trillion.
