Sumatra Post-Disaster Task Force Allocates Rp537.22 Billion for House Renovations
The Post-Disaster Acceleration Task Force for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) Sumatra continues to distribute housing repair assistance to communities whose homes were damaged by hydrometeorological disasters in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar) at the end of last year.
Based on Satgas PRR data as of 17 April 2026, significant aid has been channelled for repairing lightly and moderately damaged homes in the three provinces. In detail, housing repair assistance in Aceh has reached 12,856 lightly damaged units and 9,347 moderately damaged units, with a total aid value of Rp473.25 billion.
In Sumut, assistance has been provided to 2,232 lightly damaged homes and 1,228 moderately damaged homes, with a total aid value of Rp40.56 billion. In Sumbar, aid has been given to 811 lightly damaged units and 375 moderately damaged units, with a total value of Rp23.415 billion.
In total, Rp537.22 billion has been distributed for repair stimuli covering 26,849 housing units, continuing the phased distribution which in March 2026 reached Rp528.76 billion for 25,076 units.
The Head of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Satgas PRR, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that housing repair assistance is given directly to homeowners as stimulus funds so that repairs can be carried out independently. The amount of assistance provided is Rp15 million for lightly damaged homes and Rp30 million for moderately damaged homes.
In addition, to help communities reorganise their lives, the government also provides assistance in the form of Rp3 million for household filling and Rp5 million for economic stimulus. There is also other assistance in the form of life guarantees (jadup) which continues to be rolled out to ensure the daily basic needs of disaster survivors, amounting to Rp450,000 per person per month.
“If (house damage) is minor, it is assisted with Rp15 million, plus other things from (Kemensos) which total almost Rp8 million more. Moderately damaged houses are assisted with Rp30 million by BNPB and then also assisted by Kemensos with more than Rp8 million,” said Tito after the Coordination Meeting on Permanent Housing Data Collection at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4).
This achievement in accelerating the distribution of housing repair assistance is carried out in parallel with the construction of permanent housing (huntap) and temporary housing (huntara), to ensure decent housing for disaster survivors whose homes are severely damaged or lost.
Satgas PRR data as of 17 April 2026 records that the need for huntap in the three affected provinces is projected to reach 39,021 units. A total of 241 huntap units have been completed, with another 1,243 units in the construction process.
There are 104 completed huntap units out of a total of 28,876 units in Aceh, with 395 units under construction. In Sumut, 120 units have been completed out of 7,321 units, with 407 units under construction. In Sumbar, 17 units have been completed out of 2,824 units, with 441 units still under construction.
Meanwhile, the total huntara units completed based on Satgas PRR data as of 16 April 2026 has reached 19,028 units out of a target of 20,495 units, or equivalent to 92% progress.
