The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), under the coordination of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra, continues to distribute follow-up disaster aid as part of post-disaster support for the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

“This week we will distribute aid for the Sumatra disaster, particularly in 10 regencies,” said Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, after attending a working meeting with House of Representatives Commission VIII at the Nusantara Building of the DPR RI in Jakarta on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

Gus Ipul explained that distribution will be carried out in six regencies and cities in Aceh Province, namely Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh, Bireuen, Gayo Lues, Pidie Jaya, and Langsa City. It will also cover three regencies and cities in North Sumatra Province: South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, and Sibolga City. Finally, aid will be sent to Padang Pariaman in West Sumatra Province.

The aid in these 10 regencies and cities will be distributed to more than 82,000 beneficiaries, consisting of home contents assistance, socio-economic empowerment support, and a living allowance provided for three months.

“We are distributing nearly IDR 1 trillion this time, and we will continue once the data is complete for distribution in the next period,” he stated.

He explained that the distribution of this aid begins with data proposed by the local government, in this case the regent or mayor, which is corroborated by the local police chief and district attorney, and has been verified and validated by the Satgas PRR together with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

“This verified data then becomes our guideline for distributing social assistance,” he clarified.

Following the distribution, the Ministry of Social Affairs, through social facilitators together with local governments, will also conduct monitoring and evaluation to ensure the aid is truly utilised according to its intended purpose.

“We want affected families to recover quickly and be able to continue their existing livelihoods or build a better life,” he said.
