Sultra Provincial Police Set Up Health and Flood Disaster Posts in Kendari

Kendari (ANTARA) - The Sulawesi Tenggara Provincial Police (Polda Sultra) has set up health and Brimob disaster posts to accelerate assistance for residents impacted by flooding in Kendari City, Sulawesi Tenggara Province. Deputy Chief of Polda Sultra, Brigadier General Gidion Arief Setyawan, stated during a meeting in Kendari on Monday that these measures represent a rapid police response in coordination with relevant agencies to ensure the basic needs of affected communities are met. He noted that, in addition to health services, Polda Sultra is collaborating with the Social Services Agency (Dinsos) and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to distribute food aid to the public. “For food supplies, we are working with Dinsos and BGN to distribute sufficient and nutritious meals,” he said. In the response efforts, Brimob personnel are deploying water treatment vehicles to supply clean, potable water, which is directly distributed to homes in the affected areas. Regarding field challenges, Gidion Arief explained that power outages are the main obstacle for residents. In response, they plan to provide emergency lights as temporary lighting solutions. “The current challenge is lighting, due to power cuts. We will distribute emergency lights to the community,” he said. Gidion Arief added that Polda Sultra will keep all personnel and infrastructure on standby at the integrated posts until the situation is declared stable and residents’ needs are fully addressed.
