Sultan meets Malaysian PM

KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei paid a visit on Wednesday to Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, who is recuperating from a lung infection at his private residence.

The government news agency Bernama reported that the sultan flew into the country from Bandar Seri Begawan.

Sultan Hassanal became the first foreign leader to visit Mahathir since the prime minister was discharged from the hospital after a 10-day stay.

Mahathir, who was with his wife, Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali, was reported to be cheerful during the meeting. Doctors have advised Mahathir to rest at home before resuming work.
