Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Base Holds Cheap Market to Provide Affordable Basic Necessities

Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Sultan Iskando Muda Air Force Base (Lanud SIM), located in Blang Bintang, Aceh Besar Regency, has organised a cheap market to provide basic necessities at affordable prices.

The cheap market, held to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), took place at the Blang Bintang District Office courtyard on Tuesday.

The Commander of Lanud Sultan Iskandar Muda, Colonel PnB Suryo Anggoro, stated that the market is running for two days, specifically on 22 and 23 September 2026, offering various essential community needs at more accessible prices.

“This cheap market is part of the series of commemorations for the 81st Anniversary of the TNI and serves as a form of the TNI’s care for the community,” he said.

He mentioned that his office is presenting various basic commodities (sembako) at low prices, allowing the public to obtain essential goods more affordably.

Several commodities are available at the market, including 5.5kg LPG refills priced at Rp100,000, 3kg LPG at Rp18,000, and 5kg packages of SPHP rice at Rp60,000.

Additionally, trays of eggs are priced at Rp48,000, one kilogram of white sugar at Rp21,000, and one-kilogram pouches of ‘Minyak Kita’ cooking oil at Rp17,000.

“In addition to these commodities, we are also providing a number of other essential products offered at low prices,” said Suryo Anggoro.

He expressed hope that the cheap market would provide direct benefits to the community and serve as part of the spirit of the 81st TNI Anniversary to continue being present and providing positive contributions to society.

The presence of the cheap market has been met with a positive response from the public. Residents appeared enthusiastic about shopping for basic necessities at more affordable prices at the event.

Syahrul, a resident of Aceh Besar, said that he and other community members felt assisted by being able to obtain basic necessities through the cheap market, amidst the current dynamics of market commodity prices.

“We are helped by the existence of this cheap market. Especially since the prices of basic necessities are currently experiencing increases. With activities like this, the community can obtain daily needs at much cheaper prices,” said Syrahul.
