Sultan HB X Visits Sentono and Sendang Sumberan Historical Sites in Sragen
The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB) X, visited Sragen as part of the Yogyakarta 2026 goodwill tour. According to the Yogyakarta Regional Government’s public relations account, @humasjogja, on Thursday (9/7/2026), the Sultan visited several locations, including the Sentono historical site in Katelan Village, Tangen District, and Sendang Sumberan in Japoh Village, Jenar District. Accompanied by the Regent of Sragen, Sigit Pamungkas, Sri Sultan explored various historical sites in Sragen that are part of the legacy of the founding of the Yogyakarta Palace. As seen in a video uploaded to the @humasjogja Instagram account, the Sultan was observed washing his hands at Sendang Sumberan. He also listened attentively to explanations and stories about the two sites. Sragen was chosen as a destination for the Yogyakarta 2026 Cultural Goodwill Tour, which aims to re-weave the Mataraman cultural ties between Yogyakarta and Sragen. The Yogyakarta Regional Government’s post stated that the Sultan hopes the natural beauty of the area can be preserved so that it remains an accessible and enjoyable space for the community.
