Sultan HB X Mourns Fallen TNI Soldier in Lebanon: May This Be the Last
Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X has conveyed his condolences for Praka Farizal Rhomadhon, who was killed due to an Israeli attack in Lebanon. He hopes that no more peacekeepers in Lebanon will perish.
“Yes, I share the concern, but as for the assignment, it has been realised from the start that there will certainly be sacrifices,” the Sultan explained when met at the Yogyakarta City Hall on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
He believes that Praka Farizal and the peacekeepers in the conflict area are aware that their duties are far from safe. Nevertheless, the Sultan hopes there will be no more victims.
“So there are risks, but my hope is that this is the last one, no more victims. But it has also been calculated from the beginning; in a conflict area, the consequences mean a much higher likelihood of casualties than in safe and comfortable places,” he continued.
Previously, Praka Farizal Rhomadhon, a soldier serving in the Task Force (Satgas) of the Indonesian Garuda Contingent (Konga) TNI in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission, was killed in the Israeli attack on Lebanon on Sunday (29/3) local time.
Praka Farizal hailed from Padukuhan Ledok, Sidorejo, Lendah, Kulon Progo. The late soldier was from the Yonif 133/JS unit of Brigif 25/Siwah Dam Iskandar Muda.
“Yes, according to the information received. In Lendah, yes, that’s correct. The person (resident) from Kulon Progo,” said the Commander of Kodim 0731/Kulon Progo, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Dyan Niti Sukma.
Dyan stated that Praka Farizal’s body is still in Lebanon and awaiting repatriation procedures. He said the body would be repatriated as soon as the administrative process is complete.
“If it’s the body, we can provide information because its position is still in Lebanon,” he said.
Dyan explained that Praka Farizal’s body would receive a military funeral ceremony.
“Because the person concerned, the late, fell in duty, we will carry out a military funeral ceremony,” he said.
Shortly afterwards, two other TNI soldiers also perished when the vehicle they were in was hit by an explosion.
