Sultan HB X Hopes Little Aresha Daycare Abuse Case is the Last
Governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono (HB) X, has spoken out regarding the case of alleged assault against children at Little Aresha Jogja daycare. The Sultan emphasised that there is no place for any form of violence in DIY. The Sultan himself deeply regrets the act of violence against children that occurred at Little Aresha daycare. “I hope that this is the first and last. Because in Jogja, we do not like violence,” the Sultan stressed in a written statement received by detikJogja on Monday (27/4/2026). The Sultan also supports all police efforts to thoroughly investigate this case. “They (13 people) have already been named suspects, the police have conducted their investigation. We just wait, do not jump ahead. We respect the applicable legal process,” the Sultan stated. The Sultan admitted he is still awaiting an official report from the relevant agencies regarding the handling steps for this case to prevent it from happening again. However, he emphasised that the Regional Government is ready to provide assistance not limited to security aspects, but also including physical and psychological treatment for the children. “That (protection) we automatically do for the children. We also need treatment for the children, so we have taken steps from the beginning,” the Sultan concluded. Previously, 13 people have been designated as suspects and detained in connection with the alleged child assault case at Little Aresha Daycare. Jogja Police Chief, Commissioner Eva Guna Pandia, revealed that all 13 suspects are women: DK (51), AP (42), FN (30), NF (26), Lis (34), EN (26), SRm (54), DR (32), HP (47), ZA (30), SRj (50), DO (31), and DM (28). “The first is initial DK, Chair of the Foundation. The second is initial AP, school principal. The other eleven acted as caregivers,” Pandia explained during a press conference at Jogja Police Headquarters on Monday (27/4) afternoon.
