Sulsel Education Office Collaborates with Districts and Cities to Strengthen Gadget Restrictions
Makassar (ANTARA) - The South Sulawesi Education Office (Disdik Sulsel) is collaborating with districts and cities in the province to strengthen the implementation of restrictions on gadget or social media use for students.
Head of Disdik Sulsel, Iqbal Nadjamuddin, in Makassar on Sunday, stated that their authority applies only to upper secondary level schools such as SMA/SMK equivalents, while early childhood education, kindergartens, primary schools, and junior secondary schools are under the supervision of district and city education offices.
He explained that districts and cities are certainly aware of the regulations, particularly the implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas) to safeguard children’s futures.
He acknowledged that several districts and cities have already begun implementing it in their respective areas.
Moreover, according to him, unsupervised social media use has the potential to disrupt learning culture and affect child development, so it must be promptly addressed by every school.
He instructed all SMA/SMK equivalents in Sulsel to prepare standard operating procedures (SOP) regarding the implementation of gadget or social media (Medsos) restrictions for students.
“I think it’s already running in districts and cities, and we invite them to support and ensure the success of this government programme,” he said.
