Badan Pendapatan Daerah (Bapenda) Sulawesi Tenggara, in collaboration with the Direktorat Lalu Lintas Polda Sultra, Samsat Kota Kendari and Jasa Raharja, conducted a joint operation to enforce Pajak Kendaraan Bermotor (PKB) at several points in Kendari. The operation, which ran from 18 to 21 May 2026, targeted two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles that had not met their annual tax obligations.

According to data from Samsat Kota Kendari, on the first day officers netted 306 vehicles, comprising 138 motorcycles and 168 cars. On the second day, the number intercepted was 227, while on the third day it rose to 350 vehicles. Acting Head of Bapenda Sultra, La Ode Mahbub, said the operation forms part of efforts to optimise regional revenue collection and to raise public awareness about motor vehicle tax payments.

‘This activity is routinely conducted with the police and Jasa Raharja. For Kendari, the operation was conducted at eight points,’ La Ode Mahbub said on Thursday (21 May 2026).

He explained that onsite, officers did not only carry out enforcement but also provided education to the public about their tax obligations. In addition, the public could immediately check the amount of tax arrears through the on-site tax determination service at the operation location.

According to him, the high number of vehicles caught indicates still-low compliance among some motor vehicle taxpayers in Southeast Sulawesi. ‘Motor vehicle tax is one of the sources of regional revenue used to support development and public services,’ he said.

Bapenda Sultra urged the public to settle motor vehicle tax obligations in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. (X-6)

Printing of SPPT is a routine annual activity that will be distributed to taxpayers.
