Sukoharjo to Open Special Industrial Area
TEMPO Interactive, Sukoharjo: The Sukoharjo Regent, Bambang Riyanto, has said that in order to increase economic growth, he planed to open a new special industrial area.
“It is 300-350 hectare in size, and located in Nguter sub-district,” he said yesterday (11/9).
He explained that the area was originally non-productive and empty land.
It will be set up as an industrial area by following the Sukoharjo spatial plan.
“There are already four companies interested in developing industry in the area,” he said.
Bambang mentioned the industries include cigarette producer Sampoerna as well as an industry working on bio-ethanol development, textile factory expansion by Sritex and Danliris and a Norwegian multinational company.
He estimated the area would absorb 100,000 workers. There are around 30,000 and 35,000 unemployed people in Sukoharjo.
To attract investor, Bambang explained that the government has made several facilities easier, such as the arrangement of permits.
“We will also build supporting facilities including road, electricity, and water,” he said.
