Sukoharjo Regent Named KPK Suspect, PDIP: Our Standard Is Immediate Dismissal
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani a suspect in an extortion case within the Sukoharjo Regency Government. PDIP Central Executive Board (DPP) Chairman Deddy Sitorus stated that the party’s standard is to immediately dismiss any cadre ensnared in a sting operation (OTT). “Our standard is that if there is an OTT, they will be dismissed instantly, because they are usually already proven guilty. For cases outside of an OTT, we usually wait for the legal process,” Deddy told reporters on Sunday (12/7/2026).
When confirmed separately, PDIP DPP Chairman Andreas Hugo Pareira said the DPP’s Honorary Division Chair would conduct an examination regarding cadres who violate the rules. He mentioned that the sanctions given could range from suspension to dismissal. “The Regional Executive Board (DPD) reports to the DPP Honorary Division Chair for examination. Sanctions can be suspension, a warning, up to dismissal,” Hugo said.
He also responded to the KPK’s statement that Regent Etik allegedly continued the tradition of her husband, Wardoyo Wijaya, regarding the extortion of subordinates. As is known, Wardoyo previously served as the Chairman of the PDIP Sukoharjo Branch Executive Board (DPC). “I don’t know yet. But legal cases must be investigated based on facts, not opinion,” he stated.
Previously, the KPK named Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani a suspect in an extortion case within the Sukoharjo Regency Government. The KPK also named two of Etik’s subordinates as suspects. “The KPK has elevated the alleged corruption case related to extortion in the Sukoharjo Regency Government to the investigation stage and named three people as suspects,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu during a press conference on Saturday (11/7/2026).
The three individuals named as suspects by the KPK are: 1. Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani; 2. Head of the Sukoharjo Regency Government’s Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), Richard Tri Handoko; 3. Head of the General Affairs Division of the Sukoharjo Regency Regional Secretariat, Tri Mulyo.
Asep alleged that Etik Suryani received deposit fees within the Sukoharjo BPKAD. Asep said Etik asked Richard to collect approximately 40% of the incentives received by a number of BPKAD employees. “This request from ETS allegedly continues the ‘tradition’ of the previous regent, who is also ETS’s husband, using the code phrases ‘tambahan upah pungut kae ono tho?’ (there is an additional levy fee, right?); ‘kowe mrene kan ora bayar’ (you come here without paying, right?); ‘padakno karo Bapak’ (make it the same as with Bapak). The meaning is that the amount of money deposited should be adjusted to the deposits made during the previous regent’s tenure,” Asep revealed.
