Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani Arrested in KPK Sting Operation in Central Java

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has arrested a total of five people, including Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani, in a sting operation (OTT) in the Soloraya area, Central Java, on Thursday (9/7/2026).

“In this caught-in-the-act incident, the team secured five individuals, one of whom is the Sukoharjo regent,” KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated in a written message on Friday (10/7/2026).

Budi was unable to disclose detailed information regarding the identities of the other parties arrested. However, he explained that the regent and the others had undergone initial examination at the Surakarta Police Headquarters.

“And this morning they will be taken to Jakarta for further investigation,” he added.

The silent operation is related to alleged extortion by the regent against local government officials in Sukoharjo Regency.
