Sukoharjo Regent Caught in Sting Operation, Here is PDIP Central Java's Response
SEMARANG – The Central Java chapter of PDIP has spoken out following the arrest of Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). PDIP stated it would respect the legal process concerning Etik.
“The Central Java PDIP declares its stance to fully respect all legal enforcement measures currently being carried out by the KPK in Sukoharjo Regency. As a party faithful to its principles and upholding the rule of law, we place the law above all else and believe that law enforcement institutions will work professionally, transparently, and justly,” the Central Java PDIP said in a statement on Saturday (11/7/2026).
Central Java PDIP stated it would also take internal measures against Etik. “Once the authorised law enforcement agency has officially determined the legal status of the special criminal offence involving parties concerned as members of PDIP, Central Java PDIP will immediately recommend to the party’s Central Executive Board (DPP) to take party integrity enforcement measures, namely firm organisational sanctions to be processed in accordance with mechanisms set out in the party’s statutes/by-laws (AD/ART) and party regulations,” the statement said.
Central Java PDIP added that it regarded the sting operation against Etik Suryani as a moment to reaffirm its commitment to clean governance. “PDIP continually instructs and reminds all cadres holding public mandates — in both the executive and legislative branches — to always prioritise the principles of clean governance, integrity, and compliance with all laws and regulations,” it said.
The statement responding to the sting operation against Etik Suryani was signed by the Chair of Central Java PDIP, Dolfie Othniel Frederic Palit (Dolfie OFP), and the Secretary of Central Java PDIP, Sumanto.
Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani was caught in a KPK sting operation on Thursday evening (9/7/2026). Five people were secured during the operation. The KPK has now named Etik, along with Richard Tri Handoko, Head of the Regional Finance and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of the Sukoharjo Regency Government, and Tri Mulyo, Head of the General Affairs Division of the Sukoharjo Regency Regional Secretariat, as suspects.
According to the KPK, Etik was involved in alleged extortion within the Sukoharjo Regency Government. She is said to have received kickbacks from incentives received by a number of BPKAD employees. The KPK stated that Etik had received payments totalling Rp2.93 billion over the past several years.
Prior to Etik Suryani, three regional heads in Central Java have already been caught in KPK sting operations this year: Pati Regent Sudewo, Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
