Sukoharjo Regent Caught in Sting Operation, Here is PDIP Central Java's Response

The Central Java Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has spoken out regarding the arrest of Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). PDIP stated it will respect the legal process against Etik. “DPD PDI Perjuangan Central Java declares its stance to fully respect all legal enforcement processes being carried out by the KPK in Sukoharjo Regency. As a party that adheres to principles and upholds the supremacy of law, we place the law above all else and believe law enforcement institutions will work professionally, transparently, and fairly,” the DPD PDIP Central Java said in a statement on Saturday (11/7/2026). PDIP Central Java also stated it will take internal steps against Etik. “Once the authorised law enforcement agency has officially determined the special criminal status of the related parties who are members of PDI Perjuangan, DPD PDI Perjuangan Central Java will immediately recommend to the DPP PDI Perjuangan to take steps to enforce party integrity, namely firm organisational sanctions which will be processed according to the mechanisms regulated in the Articles of Association/Bylaws (AD/ART) and party regulations,” the DPD PDIP Central Java revealed. PDIP Central Java added that it is using the sting operation against Etik Suryani as a moment to reaffirm its commitment to clean governance. “PDI Perjuangan constantly instructs and reminds all cadres who hold public trust - both in the executive and legislative branches - to always prioritise the principles of clean governance, integrity, and compliance with all laws and regulations,” it said. The statement responding to the sting operation against Etik Suryani was signed by the Chairman of DPD PDIP Central Java, Dolfie Othniel Frederic Palit, also known as Dolfie OFP, and Secretary of DPD PDIP Central Java, Sumanto. Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani was caught in a KPK sting operation on Thursday night (9/7/2026). In the operation, the KPK detained five individuals. The KPK has currently named Etik, along with the Head of the Sukoharjo Regency Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) Richard Tri Handoko and the Head of General Affairs of the Sukoharjo Regency Secretariat Tri Mulyo, as suspects. According to the KPK, Etik was involved in alleged extortion within the Sukoharjo Regency Government. She is accused of receiving kickbacks from incentives received by a number of BPKAD employees. The KPK stated that Etik had received payments amounting to IDR 2.93 billion over the past few years. Prior to Etik Suryani, three other regional heads in Central Java have been caught in KPK sting operations this year. They are Pati Regent Sudewo, Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
