Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani was seen wearing an orange detention vest after undergoing examination at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday (11/7/2026). The KPK detained three suspects following a sting operation on Thursday (9/7), namely Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani, Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) Richard Tri Handoko, and Head of General Affairs at the Sukoharjo Regional Secretariat Tri Mulyo, in connection with alleged extortion of regional apparatuses in Sukoharjo Regency. During the arrest, investigators seized foreign currency worth approximately Rp7.5 billion. The KPK stated that all assets would be investigated for their connection to the alleged criminal act. Investigators also revealed that the amount of cash seized reached around Rp6.4 billion. A total of 25 gold bars, each weighing 100 grams for a total of 2.5 kilograms, were also displayed at the press conference. The value of the gold bars is estimated to be around Rp7.3 billion. The detention of the three suspects marks the beginning of the legal process that will proceed in court. The KPK confirmed that the investigation into the alleged extortion of regional apparatuses in Sukoharjo Regency will continue to be developed to uncover all facts and parties suspected of involvement.
