Sukoharjo Regency to Counsel Village Head for Banning Early Eid Prayers

Sukoharjo Regency Government will counsel the Village Head (Kades) of Kedungwinong, Miyadi. The counselling stems from Miyadi’s refusal to permit residents to perform Eid prayers last Friday.

“Counselling will be conducted with the individual concerned,” stated the Secretary of the Regional Government (Sekda) of Sukoharjo, Abdul Haris Widodo, as reported by detikJateng on Monday (23/3/2026).

Haris hopes such an incident does not recur. He urged village heads to maintain tolerance regarding differences in the timing of Eid al-Fitr prayers.

“I hope that in the future, such an incident does not happen again in Sukoharjo. We will remind all fellow village heads to always maintain and respect differences in the timing of Eid al-Fitr prayers,” he said.

Haris also instructed village heads to facilitate differences in Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers. The aim is for the community to perform Eid prayers in a conducive manner.

“Village heads must provide services and facilitation to all groups in the performance of Eid prayers so that residents can carry out Eid prayers, keeping the situation calm, conducive, and maintaining peace in the community,” he concluded.
