Sukarno style revived

Moh. Gempar Soekarnoputra, one of first president Sukarno's sons, brought back a nostalgic feeling when he visited the Annual Session of the People Consultative's Assembly on Friday.

Clad in brown a safari suit and sporting a black Muslim cap, the peci -- in imitation of Sukarno's grandeur dress style -- Gempar reminded people of Sukarno. He does resemble his father.

"I come here to deliver my message on how to protect wong cilik (the small people)," said Gempar, chairman of the Forum of the United Indonesian National Party (Forum PNI Bersatu).

He claimed that despite political differences, he maintained good relations with his siblings, including President Megawati Soekarnoputri. --JP
