Sukarno Center in the pipeline
JAKARTA: The family of former president Sukarno plans to establish the Sukarno Center to itemize and preserve his belongings and legacy.
Guruh Soekarnoputra, the youngest son of Sukarno, said on Monday the legacy of Sukarno belonged to all of the people of Indonesia.
"Unfortunately, many of Sukarno's properties have been misused by other people ... hopefully the center will rectify this," Guruh was quoted by Antara as saying.
He said a number of items belonging to Sukarno recently were sold at auction in Singapore without any information offered.
The Sukarno Center is expected to build a museum, register Sukarno's belongings and conduct research and other activities, according to Guruh. --Antara
