Sukabumi Regent Urges Community to Maintain Newly Built Bridge
Sukabumi Regent Asep Japar, together with Commander of Korem 061/Surya Kencana Brigadier General TNI Thomas Rajunio, and Commander of Kodim 0622 Sukabumi Lieutenant Colonel (inf) Agung Ariwibowo, toured several sub-districts in Sukabumi Regency to inaugurate and construct the Garuda Bridge. The construction of the Garuda Bridge is a priority programme of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
Regent Asep Japar stated that this presidential initiative aligns with his programme, where infrastructure development is one of the priorities of the Sukabumi Regency Government. “This programme is in line with our efforts in Sukabumi Regency. Infrastructure is a priority in order to realise equitable development and improve community welfare,” he said in Lengkong Sub-district on Thursday, 9 April 2026.
The Regent urged the community to maintain the bridges that have been built, including in Cimanggu Girang Village, Langkapjaya Village, Lengkong Sub-district, and the laying of the first stone in Cinagrog Village, Sukamaju Village, Cimanggu Sub-district. This is to ensure the bridges remain in good condition and durable.
Moreover, the bridges being built connect several villages. “We are confident that the existence of this bridge will greatly help the community, especially in terms of easier access,” he said.
Commander of Korem 061/Surya Kencana Brigadier General TNI Thomas Rajunio stated that the construction of the Garuda Bridge is a form of President Prabowo Subianto’s attention, particularly for residents who have difficulty accessing roads. This also serves as concrete evidence of the government’s presence in the community. “Today I have toured two sub-districts in Sukabumi. This is to assure that the government is never absent. The existence of this bridge is concrete evidence of the government’s presence,” he said.
The bridge, which has been under construction for about 45 days, is requested to be maintained as best as possible. “Our next task is to maintain it. Not just building, but we must also be able to care for it,” he said.
Meanwhile, a student from Lengkong Sub-district, Adit, was delighted with the presence of the Garuda Bridge. The bridge greatly helps him in making it easier to get to his place of education. “Thank you, Mr President. Thanks to this bridge, Adit is more enthusiastic about going to school,” he said.
The same sentiment was expressed by a resident of Sukamaju Village, Cimanggu Sub-district, Miftah. He expressed happiness about the plan to build the Garuda Bridge in Cinagrog Village, Sukamaju Village, Cimanggu Sub-district. According to him, the presence of the bridge has long been awaited by the residents of Sukamaju Village and Sukamanah. “Alhamdulillah, we are very happy to hear that the bridge will be built. Today it is proven by the laying of the first stone,” he said.
