Sukabumi Regent: Extensive Development Programme in 2026 Spanning Infrastructure, Irrigation and Housing Renovation
Road infrastructure in Sukabumi Regency is currently only approximately 62 per cent complete out of the total district road network spanning around 1,400 kilometres. Sukabumi Regent H. Asep Japar made this statement whilst attending the Ramadan Goodwill event (Muhibah Ramadan 1447 Hijriah) at Masjid Jami As-Salafiyah in Pasireungit, Jayabakti Village, Cidahu District, on Monday, 16 March 2026.
Despite the incomplete status, the regent reassured residents not to worry, noting that Sukabumi Regency Government is prioritising infrastructure development throughout 2026. “God willing, there will be significant development in 2026, including road infrastructure, irrigation systems, substandard housing improvements, and various other projects,” said Regent Asep.
Under the leadership of Asep Japar and his deputy H. Andreas, Sukabumi Regency Government has set various development targets through the end of their tenure. “We have only been leading Sukabumi Regency for one year. We hope that over the next four years, road quality will continue to improve, including inter-regional connectivity,” the regent stated.
During their first year in office, several development projects have already been implemented, particularly in human resource development. “Since taking office, we have provided scholarships for Sukabumi residents to study at various universities. Additionally, we have constructed much infrastructure beyond just roads, but various other infrastructure projects,” he said.
Regent Asep Japar also emphasised the strong partnership with his deputy in leading Sukabumi Regency, including efforts to develop the regency and realise the government’s vision and mission. “In leading Sukabumi Regency, I always work alongside my deputy. We ask for your prayers so that we are given strength and health to lead Sukabumi Regency,” he said.
Sukabumi Vice Regent H. Andreas echoed similar sentiments, stating that there are no other regional leaders as unified as the leadership in Sukabumi Regency. “Until this very moment, we are fully aware of many shortcomings. However, with our solidarity, God willing, our responsibilities feel much lighter. The regent and vice regent are solid until the end of our tenure,” he said.
The Ramadan Goodwill activity was conducted as a tour across various mosques in ten districts throughout Ramadan 2026. Masjid Jami As-Salafiyah in Cidahu was the final location for this year’s Ramadan Goodwill event. In addition to Sukabumi Regent H. Asep Japar, Sukabumi Vice Regent H. Andreas, Regional Secretary H. Ade Suryaman, and various regional officials were present.
Head of Sukabumi Regency Regional Secretariat Department H. Andi Rahman explained that Cidahu was selected as the final location for the Ramadan Goodwill activity, as Cidahu District holds special significance for Vice Regent H. Andreas. “This is the final and concluding location for the Ramadan goodwill activity. Cidahu is special at the request of the vice regent,” he said.
At this final event, various forms of assistance were distributed, including staple goods packages, umrah pilgrimage prizes, and subsidised staple goods bazaars. “We have prepared hundreds of staple goods packages, including umrah pilgrimage prizes for fortunate residents,” he said.
The Ramadan Goodwill activity is an annual routine agenda implemented by Sukabumi Regency Government. “We will improve and evaluate this activity for better implementation in the future. Let us make this Ramadan Goodwill event an opportunity to strengthen our faith and devotion,” he concluded.
