Sukabumi Regency has 11,000 community protection officers to maintain public order
Sukabumi Regency, West Java — The Sukabumi Regency Government has 11,238 Community Protection Unit (Satlinmas) and Community Protection Task Force officers tasked with helping to maintain public security and order.
“Satlinmas plays a strategic role as the frontline force in maintaining order, security and community protection right down to the village and sub-district levels,” said Sukabumi Regent Asep Japar, according to information obtained from the Sukabumi Regency Communications and Information Agency on Friday.
The Regent affirmed that the Sukabumi Regency Government is committed to strengthening this role so that the presence of community protection officers is genuinely felt in safeguarding regional security and order.
Regent Asep Japar stated that Satlinmas now officially carries significant duties and responsibilities in maintaining order, security and community protection.
Looking ahead, the Regent hopes that all Satlinmas members will be able to obtain social insurance coverage through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan as a form of the regional government’s attention and protection for community protection officers serving in the field.
The 11,238 Satlinmas officers were recently formally inaugurated. They comprise 386 squad commanders and 10,852 members, structured across the regency, sub-district and village levels throughout Sukabumi Regency, with each level headed by a Satlinmas chief. The officers fall under the guidance and technical command of the head of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP).
The inauguration was based on Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 26 of 2020 on the Maintenance of Public Order and Tranquillity and Community Protection, Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 11 of 2023 on Facilities and Infrastructure for Community Protection Task Forces and Community Protection Units, and Sukabumi Regent Regulation Number 91 of 2021 on the Organisational Structure and Working Procedures of the Civil Service Police Unit.
Head of the Sukabumi Regency Satpol PP, Ahmad Riyadi, said that the inauguration of Satlinmas and the Community Protection Task Force aims to provide legal standing and streamline institutional administration. This forms an important part of strengthening the role of community protection within society.
