Sukabumi on Alert for Potential Disasters on Main and Alternative Routes During Lebaran Exodus

Cross-sectoral apparatus in Sukabumi City and Sukabumi Regency, West Java, are monitoring potential hydrometeorological disasters during the Lebaran exodus for the Islamic year 1447 Hijriah, particularly on main and alternative routes.

Deputy Regent of Sukabumi, Andreas, stated that amid considerably extreme weather conditions, potential disasters warrant close attention, especially during the Lebaran exodus of 1447 Hijriah.

“Various efforts are needed to take important steps during both the outbound and return Lebaran journeys. These include monitoring congestion hotspots and anticipating potential natural disasters such as landslides and fallen trees,” he said during a cross-sectoral coordination meeting for Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 at the Aula Rekonfu of Sukabumi City Police Headquarters on Monday (9 March).

He emphasised that Operation Ketupat Lodaya is not merely about traffic security. Rather, it aims to ensure that people can worship and celebrate Eid peacefully and safely.

“Cross-sectoral synergy is crucial given that Sukabumi City Police’s jurisdiction directly borders Sukabumi Regency,” he stated.

As Lebaran 1447 Hijriah approaches, Andreas called on technical regional agencies to actively monitor the availability of essential commodities, particularly maintaining stable market prices until Lebaran.

“For the Health Service, they must be prepared with health posts and medical teams at crowded points and provide security to ensure optimal medical services for the public in the field,” he concluded.

An evaluation found that national fuel reserves remain sufficient to support public needs during the exodus and return journey periods.
