Sukabumi Man Robbed in Central Jakarta, Accused of Spitting Before Motorcycle Seized
A man from Sukabumi, West Java, named Gunawan (21), has become the victim of a robbery in the Cempaka Putih area of Central Jakarta. Police have begun investigating the incident.
Central Jakarta Police public relations section head Inspector Erlyn Sumantri said the incident occurred on Saturday (14/2/2026) at 19:40 local time. The victim, who was riding his motorcycle at the time, was stopped and accused of having spat at the perpetrators.
“The complainant was riding his motorcycle when he was suddenly stopped by two unknown individuals who claimed the complainant had spat at them,” Erlyn said when contacted on Friday (20/2).
The perpetrators then asked the victim to follow them. Subsequently, one of the perpetrators pretended to borrow the victim’s motorcycle to pick someone up. However, the perpetrator never returned and fled with the victim’s motorcycle.
“The victim’s motorcycle was borrowed by the suspect on the pretext of picking someone up. The victim waited for some time but the motorcycle was never returned. The loss is estimated at Rp 18,000,000,” Erlyn explained.
The victim has filed a report with the Cempaka Putih Police Station. The police are currently carrying out a series of investigative measures.
“The suspects remain under investigation,” Erlyn added.
