Sukabumi Hit by Magnitude 5.0 Earthquake, No Damage Reported
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 shook parts of Sukabumi Regency, West Java, on Sunday at around 15:11 WIB. The Manager of the Sukabumi Regency Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Operations Control Centre, Daeng Sutisna, stated that according to data released by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicentre was located at sea, 79 kilometres southwest of Sukabumi, at a depth of 10 kilometres. Several areas felt the tremors, including Kalapanunggal, Cidolog, Cisaat, Simpenan, and Nagrak districts, as well as Sukabumi City. Outside the regency, the shaking was also felt in Cikotok, Bayah, Pangalengan, Cimahi, Banjaran, and Lembang. The BPBD immediately coordinated with all District Disaster Management Officers (P2BK). As of 17:30 WIB, there had been no reports of damage or impact from the earthquake. The situation is currently safe and under control. The BPBD has urged the public to remain cautious and alert for potential aftershocks and not to panic when an earthquake occurs.
