Sukabumi City Hit by Storm, 21 Locations Affected
Kota Sukabumi, West Java, was hit by extreme weather consisting of heavy rain and storms on Wednesday afternoon (4 March). As a result, a number of disasters were reported in various locations. According to information, the weather was initially fairly clear. However, by 12:00 WIB the conditions suddenly changed. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds occurred. Data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported 21 locations affected by the disaster.
The Acting Head of Sukabumi City BPBD, Yoseph Sabarudin, said the hydrometeorological disaster resulting from the heavy rain with strong winds spread across several districts. BPBD officers were on standby to respond to the extreme weather. “We were immediately on standby because a few hours after the heavy rain, many reports came in,” he said. The heavy rain with strong winds caused trees to fall at seven locations and roofs of houses to be damaged at 14 locations. Data is still provisional as officers continue to collect at the field. “We deployed personnel together with the necessary equipment and facilities. Especially equipment and gear for handling fallen trees,” he concluded.
