Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 26,123 customers using its Suite Class Compartment service throughout the first half of 2026. This figure represents a 64.76 percent increase compared to the 15,855 customers served in the first half of 2025. In volume terms, customer numbers grew by 10,268 people in one year. This increase demonstrates growing public interest in train travel that offers private space, comfortable rest, personal service, and a calmer journey atmosphere.

Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, stated that the Suite Class Compartment is designed to deliver a comfortable service sequence from the moment customers arrive at the station, wait for departure, enter their private room, enjoy meals, until they reach their destination city. “The 64.76 percent increase reflects a positive customer response to a more private and personal travel service. Customers can rest, work, enjoy entertainment, or view the journey’s panorama from their own space,” Anne said.

The Suite Class Compartment is available on three flagship trains: KA Bima, serving the Gambir–Surabaya Gubeng round trip; KA Argo Semeru, serving the Gambir–Surabaya Gubeng round trip; and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek, serving the Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi round trip. Each Suite Class train is equipped with 16 exclusive private rooms. Automatic sliding doors on each compartment provide personal space for customers to rest or carry out activities during the journey.

Seats inside the compartment can recline up to 180 degrees to resemble a bed. The seats can also be rotated and are equipped with massage and heating features to support comfort during long-distance travel. A foldable tray can be used as a dining or work table. Customers also receive a personal television with a Train Onboard Infotainment System offering entertainment choices throughout the trip. The service is complemented by the presentation of meals, from starters and main courses to desserts. Food and beverages are served directly in the customer’s room by dedicated staff ready to assist with needs during the journey.

Before departure, Suite Class Compartment customers can access the Executive Lounge at certain stations. This facility provides a comfortable waiting room, WiFi access, and food and beverage services. “Every service touchpoint plays a role in shaping the travel impression. Therefore, KAI pays attention to the comfort of the waiting room, facility readiness, cleanliness, meal quality, and staff service while customers are on the train,” Anne said.

Travel using the Suite Class Compartment also offers different panoramas of Java Island on each route. Customers on KA Bima and KA Argo Semeru can enjoy views of rice fields, mountains, and cities along the southern and central Java lines. Meanwhile, KA Argo Bromo Anggrek presents views of urban areas, expanses of rice fields, and coastal regions along the northern Java line. Windows inside the private room allow the customer to enjoy this panorama in a calmer atmosphere.

Visually, the Suite Class Compartment adopts a “Biru Malam” or “BIMA” theme. The combination of blue colours, balanced decorative lines, and a golden crown logo presents an elegant, simple, and classy character. Straight lines on the livery depict a journey towards achievement and glory. The interior is equipped with Borobudur motif ornaments reflecting nature and a journey towards enlightenment. On the ceiling, there are Talawang carvings symbolising protection and courage, combined with hornbill motifs signifying purity and gallantry. The bluish-green colour of the interior gives a cool and harmonious impression. Materials used include granite, High Moisture Resistant (HMR), and Glassfibre Reinforced Cement (GRC). The selection of these materials is aimed at maintaining interior durability while reducing plastic use. Customer comfort is also supported by toilets with granite material touches. All facilities are designed as a cohesive unit so that long-distance travel feels more comfortable, calm, and memorable.

“KAI will continue to evaluate customer needs, maintain service consistency, care for facilities, and deliver relevant innovations. We want every journey to provide a sense of comfort from the moment customers are at the station until they complete their trip,” Anne concluded.
