Suhardiman Amby Becomes Seventh Kuansing Regent Caught in KPK Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that Suhardiman Amby has become the seventh Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) to be caught in a sting operation (OTT). Suhardiman has been named a suspect in connection with alleged trading of influence within the Kuansing Regency Government, Riau. ‘We need to convey that this enforcement action by the KPK is the seventh of its kind in the Riau region,’ said Acting Director of KPK Investigations Ahmad Taufik Husein at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in South Jakarta on Thursday. Taufik detailed previous cases ensnaring regional heads in Riau, including the procurement of fire engines, the procurement of facilities for the National Sports Week (PON), bribery related to forest function transfers, bribery for the extension of a Cultivation Rights Title (HGU), and budget cuts. On 3 November 2025, the KPK also conducted a sting operation related to alleged extortion within the Riau Provincial Government, a case which is still ongoing in court. The KPK explained that the alleged bribery occurred when the Kuansing Regency Government opened a public selection process for the position of Regional Secretary (Sekda) in April 2025. At that time, two officials participated in the selection: FHD, who was then the Assistant I and acting Regional Secretary, and ZKN, also known as Zulkarnain, the head of the Public Works Department. ZKN had previously purchased a Pajero Sport worth Rp 700 million on credit to secure his position as head of the PUPR Department, with assistance from a private party named Ardiles, the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant. During the selection process, Suhardiman allegedly requested a luxury car from the candidate wishing to occupy the Sekda post. ‘SA, as the Regent of Kuansing, allegedly requested a Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GRS SUV from the candidate who would fill the position of Regional Secretary,’ Ahmad Taufik told reporters at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building on Wednesday.
