Sugiono Reveals Prabowo and Turkish Foreign Minister Discuss Iran-Palestine Developments

President Prabowo Subianto invited Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Hambalang, West Java, to discuss several matters concerning the Middle East. Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the topics discussed ranged from Palestine to Iran.

“At the invitation of President Prabowo, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, conducted a visit to Indonesia (3/6/2026),” Sugiono wrote on his official social media on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Prabowo expressed his appreciation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish government for their assistance in the repatriation of nine Indonesian citizens who were detained by Israel during a humanitarian mission to Gaza, Palestine.

“In his meeting with Foreign Minister Fidan, President Prabow conveyed his deepest appreciation to His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish Government for their invaluable support in facilitating the return of nine Indonesian citizens who were part of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission,” said Sugiono.

Furthermore, Prabowo and Fidan specifically discussed the evolving conditions in Iran and Palestine. Prabowo agreed that the conflict in the Middle East should end peacefully.

“Both parties also exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, particularly in Iran and Palestine. As fellow Global South nations, Indonesia and Turkey agreed to strengthen coordination in promoting de-escalation and peaceful conflict resolution in the region, while continuing to fight for justice for the Palestinian people,” Sugiono added.

The meeting, held at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang, West Java, covered strategic partnerships, Middle East developments, and support for the repatriation of Indonesian volunteers from the Global Sumud Flotilla. Prabowo noted that Turkey’s support in this humanitarian mission reflects the strong friendship between the two nations and demonstrates a shared commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity.
