Sugiono: Prabowo Asks Putin to Enhance Economic Cooperation with Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to increase cooperation between Indonesia and Russia in the economic field.
“In the meeting, the President also conveyed matters that could potentially be enhanced in the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic sector. He also continued the relations that have already been established between the two countries,” Sugiono said on the Setpres YouTube channel, Tuesday (14/4/2026).
“And it is also a very important partner or trading counterpart for Indonesia’s trade and economy,” he added.
The two countries will solidify relations in various fields.
“Several future plans are also being carried out around strengthening the economic relations between the two countries and relations between the citizens of Russia and Indonesia,” Sugiono continued.
Sugiono said that while Prabowo and Putin were having lunch together, they also discussed several matters related to geopolitical developments that are a concern for both countries.
