Sugiono Meets Singapore Foreign Minister, Discusses Energy to Industrial Cooperation

Sugiono revealed that his meeting with Vivian discussed the development of electricity energy. He stated that Indonesia (RI) and Singapore will also open cross-border electricity trade and develop the largest power project.

“We discussed cross-border electricity trade as well as energy development and investment, which we hope can become the largest power project, especially in the category of sustainable power projects,” he said.

Sugiono revealed that his meeting with Vivian also discussed industrial cooperation. He mentioned that RI and Singapore are exploring the expansion of joint industrial zones.

“We agreed to expand partnerships in agribusiness and technology. In the field of industrial cooperation, we will build on the success of the Batam, Bintan, Karimun, and Kendal Industrial Areas, and explore the expansion of sustainable joint industrial zones,” he explained.

The Foreign Minister also discussed Middle East issues in that meeting. They emphasised the importance of de-escalating conflicts through dialogue.

“We share the same views and concerns over regional and global issues, particularly the situation in the Middle East which directly impacts our energy security. We emphasised the importance of de-escalation through dialogue and full respect for international law,” said Sugiono.

This meeting also discussed the commemoration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between RI and Singapore. According to Sugiono, there is an acronym Rising 60 (Republic of Indonesia-Singapore 60) to commemorate the bilateral diplomatic anniversary of the two countries.

“I really like the acronym that I mentioned to you earlier, namely Rising 60 for Republic of Indonesia-Singapore 60,” said Sugiono to Vivian.
