Sugiono: Indonesia-China CSD guides bilateral partnership across five pillars

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian and Chinese governments have officially launched the Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue (CSD), held for the first time on Friday, as a new platform to strengthen bilateral cooperation across five main pillars.

“This meeting serves as a future-oriented strategic platform that guides the bilateral partnership across five pillars, namely politics, economy, maritime affairs, people-to-people relations, and security,” said Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono in his opening remarks at the Indonesia-China CSD at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Jakarta on Friday.

The meeting also marked the start of discussions on the Indonesia-China Action Plan 2027-2031, as a continuation of the 2022-2026 Action Plan.

He expressed hope that both parties would agree to ensure the dialogue produces tangible achievements.

“Today’s meeting gives us the opportunity to evaluate cooperation, deepen collaboration, strengthen engagement, identify strategic priorities, and translate the consensus of the two leaders into concrete and mutually beneficial outcomes,” Sugiono said.

He also conveyed Indonesia’s sympathy over the natural disasters that have struck China, while asserting that such global challenges provide an even stronger reason for the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations for mutual sustainability.

Following the CSD, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also host the 2nd Meeting of the 2+2 Dialogue Mechanism between the foreign ministers and defence ministers of Indonesia and China.

The 2+2 meeting will focus on strengthening cooperation in political, defence, and security fields at the bilateral, regional, and global levels.

These two agendas are part of efforts by Indonesia and China to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
