Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Minister for Foreign Affairs for 2024-2026, Sugiono, has expressed his confidence that Arrmanatha C. Nasir can effectively fulfil his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs, including safeguarding Indonesia’s diplomacy and foreign policy.

This statement was made by Sugiono, who currently serves as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, during a visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Thursday.

“I am confident and believe in his ability. I am certain he can oversee and protect the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ensuring that Indonesian diplomacy and foreign policy continue to advance,” said Sugiono.

Responding to Sugiono’s statement, Foreign Minister Arrmanatha emphasised that Sugiono will always be warmly welcomed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, despite moving on to a new mandate.

“He will forever have a place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Wherever he goes, he will always be in our hearts,” said Arrmanatha.

Following his inauguration at the State Palace, Arrmanatha, affectionately known as Tata, affirmed his commitment to executing the foreign policy mandate in accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto, following the precedent set by his predecessor, Sugiono.

He stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs holds a clear constitutional mandate in conducting Indonesia’s foreign policy.

According to Arrmanatha, a stable foreign policy from year to year is one of Indonesia’s defining characteristics in conducting international relations.

“A country that possesses a stable foreign policy, which remains consistent year after year, is a good country, and that is Indonesia,” he said.

Arrmanatha, who previously served as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was officially inaugurated as the Minister of Foreign Affairs by President Prabowo Subianto to replace Sugiono, during a ceremony held at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday.

Arrmanatha was appointed based on Presidential Decree Number 105P of 2024 regarding the Dismissal and Appointment of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Red and White Cabinet 2024-2029, which was established on 30 September 2024 by President Prabowo Subianto.
