Sugiat Santoso says KWP Award is a motivator for legislators
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Sugiat Santoso, who received the award for a legislator concerned with human rights at the Koordinatoriat Wartawan Parlemen (KWP) Award 2026, stated that this event serves as a motivator for legislators. “For us, this is not just ceremonial, but also a motivator for DPR members to work concretely in absorbing public aspirations, especially from our constituents in each electoral district,” Sugiat said in his statement in Jakarta on Friday. According to him, the KWP Award acts as a bridge for people’s representatives who receive the award to demonstrate their legislative work to society. He hopes that this event continues to be held so that the synergy between the press and legislators continues to run well. “In the future, we hope that positive activities like this continue. Most importantly, the synergy between media and parliament continues to run well so that the public is educated about legislative work,” he said. The KWP Award 2026 was held at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4), with the theme “Escorting the Struggle, Appreciating Dedication: Together Realising Golden Indonesia”. He stated that the award is a form of appreciation for the dedication and efforts in advocating for human rights in the country. “I am grateful to be selected as one of the members receiving the award. The KWP Award is a good step from the parliamentary journalists’ forum to mobilise our work as people’s representatives, especially in Commission XIII of the DPR as a working body of the council that advocates for public human rights,” he said. The KWP Award is a biennial agenda aimed at recognising legislators, senators, and parliamentary work partners who provide tangible impact through their legislative and oversight functions. In this year’s event, there were more than 60 award recipients nominated.
